Behind every great content is a great idea.
Behind every great creator are many great ideas.
Coming up with your own personal and unique ideas can make you easily stand out and differentiate yourself from the conventional, boring, and geeeeneric content you see everywhere on social-media these days.
But most importantly, you can inspire and change your audience and how they think. That is the true essence of impact.
Anddddd let’s be honest, the biggest reason why you’re inspired by any creator or writer is because of the quality of ideas that they have shared. Which have dearly resonated and impacted you with a deeper level.
So deeply and greatly that your life and the way you view life in general has been changed because of them.
Now the question is, how can we become these types of people?
How can we become creative with our ideas?
How can we become not just differentiated as creators but be memorable. Be so goddamn impactful that we shape and change the minds of our viewers?
This is what i was exploring and hypeeeeer-obsessing for quite a while now and I’ve got something figured out.
I’m getting really impatient now, so let’s get into it :)
Escaping the imitation cycle. Let’s come back to reality for second; coming up with great ideas that lead to great content is admitedly hard to do at first.
It takes a rigorous amount of time to develop great ideas plus any practical advice behind creating those ideas is for someeee reason mystified and stays mostly abstract (the guru’s are hiding it!!!)
On top of that, you aren’t guaranteed many results at first and it’s quote on quote “risky.”
That is why the majority of creators whether on YouTube, Instagram, or X create content seems and sounds stupidly the same as everyone else’s content.
They are stuck in the Samsaric hell of the imitation cycle .
There is a lack of creativity, uniqueness, and individuality in these ideas at all—making it dreadful for you, me, and any audience to consume.
Most do not want to dedicate the amount of effort and have the tenacity to take risks to do this, thus many creators are trapped in this imitation cycle of content. And when you are trapped in it, you become a “commoditized creators.”
Just writing what I said here alone pisses me off and it probably is doing that to you.
We are sick of the sameness and goddamn tired of the SHALLOWNESS—and this is good that we’re feeling this.
‘Cause this is a shining opportunity for you to not ONLY live up to your aspirations of being an impactful and memorable creator. But to help make being a writer and creator actually fulfilling, sustainable, and FUN throughout the months and years to come.
Because who the fuck wants to create shallow and boring content for years? Who the fuck wants to commoditize themselves so they can be easily replaced by another “cog” in the machine? Exactly.
So this is what you’ll from reading:
I’ll show you my creative process that is conducive to generating and creating impactful ideas. So you can create a catalog and a world of ever-green content that will truly change people and be remembered for it.
So you can finally escape this goddamn imitation cycle.
So you can finally create the impact and change that you desire.
This is my 3-step creative process to do this:
Exploration: To consume diverse ideas to generate novel ideas Incubation: To generate and develop ideas, writing impactful content Revolution: Publishing your content, repurposing and repeating your content to revolutionary status Now let me preface before someone YELLSS at me: if you haven’t wrote at least 2 articles orrr medium to long form content, bro just write and get some volume in to improve. But whether you have or haven’t, if you’re ready to dedicate more time than usual and wanna create b0nkers content, then gyoooooooood.
It is time to build the world of your ideas :)
Exploration: Consuming holistically to generate better ideas Before getting anywhere, let’s address the big elephAnt in the room first.
If you consume garbage content, you’ll end up with garbage ideas.
If you consume good content, you’ll come up with good ideas.
You are what you consume—and this is obvious and isn’t the only point here.
If you want to create great ideas, you need to have an exposure to a diversity of ideas, topics, and perspectives.
I mean just look at creative people.
They have a “high openness” personality which is trait as part of the big 5 personality test (like my dumbass lol). They naturally are drawn to many different and random topics.
And as byproduct, learning and expanding their knowledge, they expand their unique perspectives. Making developing great ideas much more easier.
So that’s the thing we need to replicate, especially if you’re not naturally born with high-openness (though you might cuz i got you 2 read this heheheheh).
And we’ll do this through:
exploring your inspirations: learning from people you look up to exploring your passions: quite any topic you want exploring your education: your skill or main passion The goal is to dedicate 30m-1h after your productivity block is to learn, grab ideas, and prime our minds to generate ideas for the incubation phase.
From here, I’ll be assuming that you’re creating notes and connecting thoughts & ideas to what you’re consuming (which will help you generate ideas instantly). If not, do it bruh. If yes, gyoood!
Enough, let’s get you in some creative juice :)
01 Inspirations Through podcasts, interviews, biographies, books, learn from your favorite:
entrepreneurs leaders thought-leaders authors Whoever the fuck you want, explore their:
People like Alex Hormozi, Jordan Peterson, or Paul Graham—whoever bro.
It doesn’t only have to be someone from your main interest or niche, just find someone that deeply enriches your learning and thinking. Especially if it’s someone that deeply inspires you to create your own impactful ideas.
When you “borrow” and explore the minds of individuals, especially if they have a lot of experience or are intellectuals, you use them to come up with new perspectives and ideas.
Even if you are coming up with ideas that seem like that they came from who you are inspired by, it doesn’t matter because you can still can develop ideas from your own unique perspective. Which makes it you-niquely yours.
That’s why learning from your inspirations or the greats is such a rich source of potential great ideas you can come up with.
So when you are lacking inspiration for any ideas, go to your inspirations!
02 Passions Explore what you are interested in AKA whatever you find insightful, intriguing, and inspiring.
For example:
studying religion watching documentaries fiction or entertainment learning philosophy: (i.e. hermeticism, nietzsche, any great philosophy) any topics falling under “self-growth” And personally for me, I come up with many different ideas in the middle of consuming basically “anything i want”.
But the other main point is to expose yourself to different domains and topics of interests.
Again, this is how you increase your perspectives, your intellectual capacity, and how INTERESTING you are as an individual
That’s the great power of exposing yourself to different perspectives—you become different.
03 Education If you want to have more ideas, better expertise and advice on what you are talking mainly about as a creator, it’s a no-brainer to leave room for learning.
So to finally balance out your consumption, lean into whatever skills you need or you’re curious about:
branding creativity marketing copywriting video editing graphic design psychology fitness etc Consume rigorously and attentively.
Even if you think you know a lot about what you’re talking about, you can never stop learning.
You become a wiser person when you finally accept that what you know right now is probably wrong.
So keep assuming that you know absolutely and utterly nothing.
Implementation and Expectations Don’t worry, strictly following a “step-by-step” every time you consume is annoying af.
Just keep the framework:
Inspirations Passions Education —in mind.
And eventually, it just becomes reflex, you’ll find yourself hardly even think about trying to consume a diverse range of content. This is how you consume like a creative aka a high-openness mf. Holistic consumption baybeee.
If you haven’t generated ideas, don’t worry, the next step will help you with that. But if you have, I’ll show you what to do with them :)
Idea Incubation: Generating Ideas and Developing Ideas After the exploration phase where you holistically consumed content, this is where the juicy stuff happens.
Enter “idea incubation.”
I’ll explain why it is important to have the time for creative rest to allow your mind to generate ideas.
And you’ll be learning to turn the ideas you generated into impactful ideas, so you can create meaningful pieces of content.
To get into depth for each of them, I’ll split this incubation phase into 2 stages:
01 Incubation: resting to generate ideas and creativity 02 Incubation: working to develop impactful ideas Hope this isn’t jamming your brain far too much than it should be—if not, oh well 😹
Now let’s get into the juiceee.
01 Resting To Generate Ideas and Creativity Let’s get “psychology-ey” real quickkk.
You know when you get those random ideas, sparks of inspirations, or answers to your tough problems completely out of nowhere? Or when you hear artists of the old were referring to something like a “muse” bestowing to them new inspirations and ideas?
That was because of the “period of incubation.”
I’m referring to the psychological concept that refers to the process of setting aside your mind completely out of work to help process information and form new connections.
Helping your mind nurture and generate those bad-boi ideas. That’s why you get ideas during the day when your mind is wandering, unoccupied, or doing completely something else.
Especially after your work or creative block and after doing the exploration step of this article.
That’s why it is important to prioritize rest and leisure to give your brain the room to breathe to nurture and generate your ideas for this incubation period.
By keeping your average hours of work at max 4-6h and detaching yourself from consuming media, you’ll increase the quality and volume of the ideas you generate. Opposed from the crappy Western work culture of doing 8h work days all the time.
I’m not saying you can’t work 8h (sometimes you have to) but capping it lower will aid better productivity and creativity.
That’s why the paradox of “the less work you do, the more meaningful work you can get done” works.
Plus you’ll be able to solve problems more effectively, especially if you’re running into many roadblocks in your work.
No wonder creatives rest a shit ton!
Effective Rest Practices So whatever you can do to detach yourself:
do your walks & runs do your rigorous workouts do your hobbies & activities do your solitude & isolation do your chores & errands do your naps & long-sleeps The activities that work for me other than just pure boredom is any workout, staff training, and drawing.
Just disconnect your mind, let your body do the rest, and be opened to any arising ideas. EVEN if it’s kinda stupid and weird.
Again this isn’t only about gathering ideas, it is about having a sustainable life-style conducive to your creative work.
The Revelation of Ideas Once you’ve given yourself time to rest and wander, expect random ideas to pour in randomly during the day or evening, mostly when you’re unoccupied from work.
Especiallyy after you’ve consumed a shit ton of content from the exploration step.
Though you can’t necessarily time when this will happen. This process of your brain generating ideas is quite autonomous after all. But you can assume this will happen when you’re unoccupied (for ex: during a shower or before bed).
Whether they are short or long-form ideas, you can expect a great amount that relates to the content you’re putting out with your writing or brand.
I use X and I like snappy and very short posts, so I tend to generate a tons of ideas for them that I post instantly..
But as for long-form ideas, I get a ton too—I even find these ideas better than the ones I come up w/ ChatGPT.
Anyways, with much rest and leisure, comes many different types of ideas to pour in for you to capture :)
02 Developing Impactful Ideas Now once you’ve captured an idea, store it somewhere.
If it’s just an idea for a quick short-form piece of content (like a tweet), just write and post it.
But since you want to create great impactful ideas for content, you’ll need to develop the idea first before creating the actual conent. Because there is a huge difference between idea-developing and content-creating.
To develop the idea is like working on the foundations and creating the content is like forming the building on top of it.
The better foundations, the bigger and greater the building you can build on top of it. AKA the more the idea resonates with your audience, the more valuable it is, and the more results or engagement it can get.
That is the profound difference between settling on a decent or good vs making a potentially impactful and revolutionary idea.
For that, when we develop these ideas, we need to ensure that they are:
inspiring and captivating valuable and practical memorable and different in-depth and detailed (bonus points) And dw, to tick these boxes off isn’t hard, but will definitely take time.
But the goal is to create a piece of content that will literally change people, so for that time investment and rigor is going to be worth it.
To do that, we’ll go through this content idea development framework that you'll fill out using your unique perspectives (you can grab the idea development and content writing template here):
Brain-dumping The big problems & misconceptions The great solution Connecting multiple ideas and perspectives Your experience Your memorable framework The big idea And no, you don’t HAVE to fill in everything for this but this will greatly help you develop the idea.
Nowww with that said, let’s gret into it!
Start with Researching Ok i’ll admit, i personally didn’t do this enough before… and that led me to not understanding what i was talking about AT ALL which makes writing about it a fucking hell.
I even had that problem for this newsletter idea (what a hypocrite i am to teach this lol).
So please, do your research as a start to whatever you’re writing, even if it’s just 1 resource.
Whether they are:
YouTube videos Medium or Substack articles Social media Quotes from people ChatGPT (he’s OP for research) Whatever that helps you understand your idea and topic better so you’re able to communicate it thoroughly to your audience.
Don’t rush this process, you can even give yourself 1 day of exploring and note taking for research.
This will make EVERYTHING about developing the idea and writing the content itself so much easier.
A - Brain-dumping Now you’re done with the research, riiiiight???
Once you’re, start developing your idea and start brain-dumping.
In bullet points (or however you want), drop down all your thoughts and perspectives of the idea you’re writing about.
The goal is to get the general “gist” of the idea and gain clarity on it.
Who cares about the grammar, just write!
B - What are the big problems or misconceptions? To make the idea you’ll write about actually useful to anyone, you have to know the common problems or misconceptions you are trying to cover.
If it doesn’t acknowledge a burning problem people have or in your niche, unfortunately nobody will give a fuckk.
So keep that in mind!
For ex, this is the problem I am handling in this newsletter:
These were a few major problems that this article touches upon—and I can probably add more.
See what i mean??
C - What is the solution? Pretty simple this, how can you solve that burning problem with your article?
For this one I’m writing, my solutions i give are:
If you want, go fuckin DEEEP with the solutions especially if you want to give your audience a SHIT tonna value and depth.
And you can easily come up with a simple step-by-step framework in your piece of content for the next step.
Whilst writing, keep the “desired transformation” that you want your audience to have in mind.
D - How many ideas or perspectives can you connect together? Here you’ll be adding your unique perspectives or ideas that you can connect to your idea—especially to the solutions that you are giving for the problem.
This is the true essence of creativity.
You’re adding more depth and dimensions to your idea using different ideas and perspectives together to explain it. Andd your ideas will look god fuckin damn unique.
For an example for this article you’re reading on how I did this:
I can add as MUCH AS I WANT in here as long as I can connect it to the idea i’m writing about.
These different ideas and angles that makes it rightfully and undeniably mine.
Even if I were to write something generic like about “discipline,” i can take all of my unique perspectives and other ideas I’ve exposed myself through consumption (exploration phase) and connect them to it. Making what I write about THAT much better and more compelling
Yes this will take more time to brain-storm and understand but this is how you’ll make your ideas more… uh, “hit-different” hehehe.
E - Do you have a story? This is optional but a personal story that you can recall and present to the audience at the beginning of your piece of content makes it more captivating and compelling.
Plus makes your introductions much more seamless to give context behind what you’re talking about.
F - Create a framework Now taking your solutions, create a simple step-by-step framework based out of them that your audience can easily follow (just like this newsletter).
You can make it based on the solutions you outlined.
Or you can name them like I did here, which is optional but helps people follow the advice easier and remember it.
This is the framework based on the solutions I outlined:
Remember to keep every step of the framework as useful and practical as possible for your readers :)
G - Understanding the big idea Fianallyyyy you’ve done most of the steps, now this is where you brainstorm the headline or the title of your piece of content.
You’re doing this for the sake of understanding the “big picture” of the idea which will help you capture attention with your headline.
Personally, I like to think of this as writing the SUMMARY of your idea… for example:
I can basically use this as a headline for my post or reference for writing an X-post to advertise it or i can use it for hooks.
Either way, understanding a brief summary of your content piece will do you wonderrs.
Start Writing Your Impactful Piece of Content Here’s the recap of the framework
Brain-dumping The big problems & misconceptions The great solution Connecting multiple ideas and perspectives Your experience Your memorable framework The big idea Remember, you don’t HAVE to fill in everything in this framework but it will tremendously make your idea fuckin juiced.
Once you’re done, you can create the piece of content you want.
Whether it is a newsletter, short-article, or just any piece of writing in general that you can share.
Again don’t forget to use this notion template as reference for filling out the framework + helping you write your long-form piece of content.
This’ll be of great help to you :)
Revolution: Releasing, Repeating, and Re-iterating Your Impactful Content Nowwww this is where you bring your idea from the incubation phase and finally share your piece of content to your audience.
Once you’re done, you can repurpose your piece of content in different ways and helping you inspire more people across different social-media platforms.
And throughout time, re-create that same piece of content but better and more refined.
Which I’ll cover in:
Repurposing your content: distributing content in different formats Re-iterating your content: repeating your content for memorability Let’s finally end this madness, let’s goo.
01 Repurpose: distributing content in different formats & platforms With the newsletter or blog you’ve shared to your audience, you can easily repurpose your content to other social medias.
Such as:
X-posts (280 character posts) or threads Instagram post carousels Long YouTube videos Medium articles (which I’m posting there) Especially for X or IG posts, you can copy-paste a section of the article you’re writing, acting as a smaller ideas. Making you build an audience on those platforms easier than spending so much time on short-form content.
Thus spreading your personal brand (or your name) across the digital world much more.
Plus you can advertise your newsletter posts under your tweets so that’s free reeach for you.
Talk about more opportunities for you!
02 Re-iterate: refining and repeating your content for revolutionary status Of course, the first time when you publish your very first impactful piece of content, it won’t be the best and it probably has much room for improvement (like this one).
Especially for performance and engagement.
But that’s okay! Because from now, you can always re-evaluate your piece of content and re-iterate it over time to make improvements so it:
can be more refined and improved can resonate and perform better with your audience can stick in your audience’s heads even more This doesn’t just go for your long-form piece of content, this goes for short form content as well.
If you want to be associated and remembered for a certain you post, repurpose them.
Is it lazy? Ye, but who careees? You’re doing it so you can gain authority on an idea and have people gain more awareness of it. Plus if you truly know how much it can help and inspire people, repeat it!
This is some thought-leader shit—and this is how you become one: being known for your ideas.
Andd you’ll sure as damned that I’ll do that for this article in the future!
Your own world is yours Phew that was long lol and i hope the tangents and the grammar mistakes didn't make you quit reading haaahhehehaah.
Now here’s a recap of what we’ve covered today:
Exploration: To consume diverse ideas to generate novel ideas Incubation: To generate and develop ideas, writing impactful content Revolution: Publishing your content, repurposing and repeating your content to revolutionary status Yes yes I’m making gigantic claims using the term “revolution”.
But I truly believe this process can help you get closer to that status through creating your own paradigm-shifting ideas so you can change and transform others.
With that note, I can’t promise you this will be easy.
Coming up with your own big ideas, writing your own frameworks, trying to make sense of all of it, it can be goddamn headache (especially writing this one here).
Sifting through the garbage, deleting and re-writing parts, and separating the wheat from the chaff. You’ll make many mistakes and might spend a lot of on the incubation stage but this is all part of the great creative process.
This is what it takes to be the creator that wants to be known for their ideas.
This is what it takes to be the creator that wants to create their own world.
With that, this is all well goddamn worth justified for the drop of sweat and blood to accomplish this, I can promise you this.
But if U need any help with this, check out my personal branding consultations here or send me a DM on X @newwin07 if you need anything (no pitches, no BS, i wanna talk!).
Whatever you do, creating your own world and the great revolution is on your finger tips, ready to be created.
For that, I leave that to you :)
Be Different - WIN.
