6500+ words (yes I'm fucking insane) - 30 minute read - only for the passionate, the creative, and the different.
April 13, 2023.
That was the day where I finally said “fuck it, I’m done with this shit.”
I remember having a self-improvement channel that had over 180+ videos that I had plans monetizing with. Along with an Instagram personal brand that I was posting 4 reels/week. It was great and at first, I was in love with the process for months.
The game plan I followed for a while was:
Create 3 well-edited self-improvement YouTube videos/week along with 2 shorts. Create 4 well-edited Reels/week, trending sounds, and optimized bio. All to optimize my results which started to work.
But through all those months of rigorous work, consistency, and passion, something snapped inside of me.
I felt as if I didn’t enjoy the process anymore, or at least my body was. I was getting bored, un-driven, and dried-up with all the constant repetitive content and work I was pushing out.
When I felt “un-discplined,” I made myself to work but it just didn’t feel right. From there, I literally had to force myself.
But there was something I didn’t need to force myself to do. It was writing on Twitter.
It took me 2 months of prior daily tweeting and congregating to finally realize how much I enjoyed the app. The writing and creating on there felt cathartic. Like—I really really liked it!
The shitty little tweets I posted everyday.
The friends that I was making.
The new things I was learning everyday.
The small progress and results achieved daily.
I loved everything about the process, even if the results were poor—I couldn’t give a shit bro.
So it was time to have the “fuck it bro” mentality. I pulled the most rashest move ever and decided to be done with the YouTube videos and reels. Abandoned all social-medias for Twitter (out of all fucking apps bro 😹).
But I was excited, enthusiastic, and invigorated. It was a whole new world I can explore!
Something felt “off” 2 weeks in (don’t ask me about the timeline bro), everything was going well. I was consistent, engaged a ton daily, constantly networked with other people, and made new friends—everything was great.
But something hit me at the time. Something felt “off.” The advice I was told to follow didn’t feel right with me along with the creators I saw in my timeline—they didn’t really resonate with me.
I was getting tired of the advice of “optimizing my content for growth.”
The advice of “why can’t you write 3x tweets/day.”
“Engage 50x+ if you are under 1k followers”
“You shouldn’t post off-topic content.”
“Follow the “x” content strategy”
It’s all great advice so I followed all of that and played by the “same game” as the others. To optimize your content to grow an audience, build your brand, and monetize. And those strategies worked for me before because I thought that was the only way (and I was still new).
But I had an itch that I wanted to scratch, badly. I had this instinct inside of me that I wanted more than to just create simple content to grow an audience and monetize. It was telling me to divert from that. So I started listening to that instinct focused on something else.
That focus was to experiment. I had different interests, perspectives, and thoughts/topics that I couldn’t hold back from talking about.
I started to not put emphasis on my “value or authority” content, but to start keep everything as authentic and insightful as possible.
I didn’t care as long as it taught, inspired, and empowered.
It felt right and it catered to my fundamental need for creativity, exploration, and play.
I knew that I was a creative, so that’s where I stopped following some of the advice that wasn’t working for me and decided to play my “own game.”
The creative’s game.
I’m not alone I then realized I wasn’t alone. I saw the other side of this weird “money-twitter” and I saw other creators (smaller & bigger) doing the same thing. They talked about their interests, they created unique content, and their voice was a breath of fresh-air.
“Dayum, this feels like home,” I thought.
From that experience I truly loved the process of creating more. I felt like “me” again. I could finally express and create without any need and worry.
What was great was most of my growth started because I was expressing different ideas and topics. I just didn’t GIVE A FUCK.
And with that, it taught me the most crucial thing about the creator economy and seeing others create: every creator is unique and different in their own way.
Every creator has different visions.
Every creator has different preferences.
Every creator has different situations.
Every creator has different perspectives.
And most knowingly, not every creator is treating their content and brand to optimize for business building right away.
Once I knew this, I thought it was utterly stupid for some people to force themselves to follow common prescribed advice that doesn’t work for them.
Common advice like pick a niche and niche-down, follow a content-strategy, engage 50x, whatever. And no wonder most people think this is the only way, you see it everywhere.
If there is a lack of emphasis on experimentation, no shit people will automatically think they have to force themselves in a “box” to achieve their big goals.
This was and is something that bothers me greatly.
The danger in following advice that doesn’t work for you Now you might be asking me “why are you making such a fuss Anthonyy?” Yeah I sound like that dorky child rebelling for nothing but hear me out.
Of course you have to learn from social-media growth/content advice because you are new and you have to learn.
And I’m not saying you shouldn’t follow a content-strategy, because they are clearly needed.
But if you have to force yourself to any piece of advice that clearly doesn’t work for you (especially if you don’t experiment in your own way), it won’t get you anywhere.
You’ll either:
not enjoy the process create content that will “feel” the same as most will feel lost and confused on what you are doing won’t make much progress or worst case, burn-out And if you do burn-out, it’s like you being a flash in a pan. Bright and radiant at first.
Then dissipates and dissolves into nothingness, all that ton of valuable and precious work, energy, and time gone.
Is this what personally branding should be?
To not enjoy the process? To dread it? Is that really it? Because I don’t think it is.
The process of creating and building a brand should work for you. You shouldn’t feel like you have to create, only for the sake of social-media metrics and strategies.
First things first, creating should be fun. It should be effortless.
Passion fueling. Invigorating. Cathartic. Pure bliss.
It should be a time for curiosity, experimentation and play—creating for the sake of creating while helping others and giving value.
That’s what creativity is in it’s purest form.
Now what if there was a way you can do this with personal-branding?
To create a unique and impactful brand, along with cultivating a loving and devoted audience to not just build a brand but to build the foundation for your business.
Especially if you:
have multiple interests want to “break the rules” have different visions and goals want to create something beyond a brand A way where you can create your own strategy, create your own game, and create your own world .
Wouldn’t we all want that? I know you do.
Let me introduce to you a way of branding that is catered towards the creatives, the passionates, the polymaths and the different.
I call it “domain creation.”
The Domain Creator I’ll be honest, this section won’t be practical, but only for you to look at creating and branding through a bigger, vaster, and different picture.
Afterall, you are going to do this for decades and a perspective shift when it comes to this is needed, especially in these fast, confusing, and uncertain times. So this what I’m doing here.
Giving you my selfish lens that may or may not help you depend on who you are.
Read or skip? Up to you.
Philosophy and Manifesto The definition of the word ‘domain’ means territory, realm, or world. In Greek mythology, this term is most prevalent with it’s mythological gods.
For instance, the domain of the god Zeus would be the clouds and the sky while the domain of Ares would be rage, war, and courage.
These two gods had their own worlds that they ruled and exerted dominance over which makes them known for who they are and what purpose they played in Greek mythology.
Taking this term, I created it into a model of branding catered specifically towards a specific person.
The creatives. The passionates. The polymaths. The rulebreakers. The person that’s reading this—the different.
The one that wants to explore, create, and build a world .
A world built through passions, curiosities, and aspirations.
Developed into unique ideas, projects, and messages.
Created to be influential, empowering and inspiring.
Then to a start to of a legacy. Something of magnitude, influence and significance. Unforgettable. Undeniable.
That’s why the purpose isn’t to rule domains (or a niche, or market)—like the gods of Greek myth. But to create them. That’s why I call it ‘domain creation.’
No need to prioritize the 3 tweets per day, 5 shorts per week, and wasting 3 hours on social media everyday. No need to worry about the metrics of social media followers. It’s time to go back to the root, the true metric.
The principle behind all great ideas, and creation: creativity, passion, and curiosity. And I think it is time to bring this need and desire back to us.
To create a world is where you and me have the gift to have. Afterall, we are creating worlds, whether we know it or not—so why not “optimize” for world-building and influence?
Why not optimize for being truly you and actually create.
To create, not emulate.
To create the game, not play it.
To be different, not be conventional.
To be you, not anyone else.
That is the way of the domain creator—and no matter the terminologies you and I use, this should always be the way .
Now for you and me to live up to this? This is what we’ll be doing now.
We will start with creating the domain.
Domain Creation Now on to the practical idea. Short and sweet so you get the context of the model moving forward from here.
The big idea of your domain is split into 3 sections: principle, world, and expansion.
Firstly, the principle is the core behind the domain. It’s about who you are, what you want to do, and where you want to go as a creator. From there, your content, your brand, and your world becomes the byproduct of you forming your principles. Automatic clarity and direction for you, nice huh?
Secondly, the world is the realm of your ideas, stories, and projects that you will be producing. You can call it “your niche” if you want but call it your world.
Thirdly, the expansion is the method you would use to distribute and market your content and brand so you can expand reach, influence, and significance. Or just make $.
Now I’m not going to tell you to do everything, but to start with one thing, your principles.
It is the most important aspect to you as a creator. Not because you are figuring out what your brand will be about, but what you will be about.
So this is how we’ll move forward from here.
This is only the start and it isn’t perfect, but that’s the point. To start anyways.
Principle Creation You know the gist, you are here to explore your interests, create unique content, and a unique brand. But most importantly, you want to create your own world.
But before creating that world, you will need to be positioned before doing that. Not brand positioning, but you positioning.
That’s where your principles come in, they are your:
passions philosophy personality These 3 principles give you an internal compass, a north-star, an underlying foundation of who you are as a creator and what you are doing.
Rather than being lost and spend 100s of hours going nowhere, you can realize what you are truly excited about and what is important to you.
With every piece of content you create, the way you want to monetize, the aspirations you strive towards—that is guided by your principles.
The sustainability, enjoyment, and creativity—that’s also because of your principles.
You can push aside all the advice that doesn’t work for you, all the noise that distracts you from things that are most important to you are gone.
No longer you need to be concerned with others making more “progress” than you or whatever.
They can play their own game and you right here, you create your own game.
Enough, shall we begin?
Domain: Passions I know, a lot of people say “you shouldn’t follow your passions,” coming from entrepreneurial and self-help spaces, which is more than absolute bullshit. Bruh. Let me explain.
In latin, passion means ‘passio’ which means “to endure or suffer.”
While the Greeks defined them as “strong emotion, desire” etc.
Now let’s pause for a second.
What is the reason why you can work your ass off despite you having no sleep?
What is the reason why you feel excited when you are about to work? Energized? Invigorated? Animated?
It’s passion. Not the type of passion where it is selfish, indulgent, and wasteful. It is the type of passion that makes work feel like play.
It is effortless. It is fun.
It gives you the capacity to endure.
And without passion?
There is boredom. Dullness. Sterility. If you want to do something for years or decades? Without a feeling of passion, you’re doomed.
That’s why you should never trust a mf that says he isn’t passionate about what he is doing.
“Just be discplined bro”
Yes, I’d like to be “disciplined” and bored as fuck.
And is boredom something a creator should feel? Bruh.
A creator should feel interested.
A creator should feel excitement.
A creator should feel invigorated.
Free to explore ideas. To play. To boundlessly create.
That’s what being an ACTUAL creator is.
This is what this principle is here for: exploring your passions so you can create unique content, and a unique brand.
Now allow me to show you how you can do this:
Realizing your passions Stating the obvious here: many creators will tell you to not go “off-topic” with your content and specialize in a topic. Basically niching down.
And fair enough, that method works and will get you faster results since it specifically caters towards building an actual business.
But were here trying to build the brand first before the business. And for the ones that want to do that, this advice won’t work for them, especially if they want to create out of their interests, curiosities and passions.
That’s quite literally the antithesis to multi-passionates.
Though the problem with beginner creators having many passions is having a lack of focus, direction, and positioning.
If I were to talk about different types of interests/topics without positioning my brand by a core skill, interest, or passion, I won’t have a direction.
It’s inconsistent and it isn’t pretty.
But if you have a core passion, a skill, or whatever, that you create content from at least somewhat consistently, you’ll be great.
From there, who says that you can’t talk about your other passions? That’s quite bs. Because to be an actual creative, you must have a curious eye for different topics that is outside your current interest.
For example getting into topics like psychology, philosophy, or history. Or getting into skills like graphic design, marketing, or video editing. You name it bro, anything.
And the more diverse interests, passions, and perspectives and interests you have:
the more topics and types of content you can write about the many unique perspectives you can have the many connections you can make with either passion or topic. the more depth, thought, or creativity to your content. That’s the purpose of me empowering you to create out of your core passions + your curiosities and interests.
Your content stands out and is unique—opposed to just talking about your niched down interest or skill.
That’s why I preach talking about whatever the fuck you want along with your core passion.
That’s how you keep things enjoyable, fun and challenging. You are creating at the edge between the known and the unknown—stretching your capacity to create unique perspectives.
Which is a challenge and time-consuming especially at the beginning (and hardly people resonate nor want to do that).
But since you’re like me, it is thrilling. It is cathartic. It is freeing. It is a true affirmation of creativity.
This is the way to become un-replicable.
This is the way to be become different.
Now if you want to do that? Read on.
1 - realize your core passions In this section, I’ll help you choose a 1-2 topics that feels right and feels exciting so you can focus on that passion through your:
brand and offer positioning longer-form content Now here are some examples of core passions:
human-potential philosophy writing, ghostwriting, creative writing storytelling the creator economy personal branding marketing video editing etc. This is mine:
creator economy/branding (positioning brand and offer) Now if you don’t know what skill to choose, just pick human-potential because there is literally a world for you to explore within that topic—only if you let yourself explore different areas of that topic.
And you’ll realize, 99% of content you’ll see is under the umbrella of self-actualization anyways, so you’ve got room.
So please, let yourself explore your topic :)
2 - realize your other interests: If you’re like me, your interests aren’t rigid but they expand just because of that curiosity, which is a blessing!
The more diverse interests you have, the more ideas you can have.
So what’s a better way for this than to “talk about whatevever the fuck you want?”
Rather than constraining ourselves, being chained and castrated, we can be flexible with what we talk about, and still get results. That will be our content strategy.
Andddd is there more explanation? Nah, let’s just begin.
1 - choosing other topics to write about
Here are some examples of topics or interests you can write about:
creative writing philosophy fitness anime religion graphic design anything you’re consuming These are mine:
creativity. graphic design philosophical or spiritual topics + human-potential random shit 💀 There’s not much restriction here so it doesn’t matter what interests you have, you can insert them in there.
And again, if you constantly consume different types of topics, you can add them into that list. Then from there, break down the topics in your content.
For example, breaking down creativity as a topic for me =
creative writing → using specific verbiage, tonality, and rhythms philosophical perspective → suffering, uniqueness, passions, business, etc. You see what I mean here by doing this?
Pick a few interesting topics and explore them. And the byproduct is a vast reservoir of ideas and perspectives, it’s not even funny bro.
So whatever you pick, play, explore around, and most importantly, have fun!
2 - the “talk about whatever the fuck you want” model
Now for the content strategy, plain and fucking simple.
You can create content out of your 30% core passion, or 70% other passions.
Or you can do 50/50, whatever. Just as long as you are consistent with your core passion and whatever get’s you results.
That is the content strategy and it works like a charm. You thought there was more to it huh? Nah bro. That’s it!
3 - integration of passions Integrating different topics together is the act of making connections
Combine or merge 2 different topics, ideas or whatever together in your content.
For example:
anime + fitness personal branding + philosophical lens running + writing philosophy + passions cooking + writing = unique, novel content
It gives your content depth, creativity and a challenge for you to articulate. Again no one is saying it’s easy. But that’s the point, it’s supposed to train you to be creative.
But it is rewarding since you are challenging your capacity to create unique ideas or content—which will get easier over time with practice and with intention.
That’s what it takes to be creative. That’s what it takes to be different.
End: Passions Now let me clear some confusion, questions and limiting beliefs, because of courseee lol.
a - your passions are your audience
“What if people don’t care about what I’m talking about?”
As long as you attach your interest to a common problem and give out a solution, you’ll be okay :)
Sometimes you don’t even need to think about the problem, you can just write about an interest that popped up in your mind.
Plus 95% of the time, I’ll guarantee you that your interests will lie under human-potential anyways—so people will be interested in that.
And yes some people won’t care, but oh well, that’s their problem, not yours lol.
The point isn’t to attract everyone to your brand because you won’t be attracting anybody, that’s why I got you to realize your passions.
Your passions are your audience.
b - create for yourself first, focus on results after
If you are new to creating out of your other interests, your piece of content won’t get you the best engagement, views, or results at first—and that’s the point.
Results is something that you should focus on but not to the point it impedes your creativity.
When you create, let it be a pure act self-expression.
Who cares if it doesn’t get results, who cares if no one cares?
Just get that idea or piece of content out and if it doesn’t work, that’s okay.
You can look at what didn’t work:
maybe it was the copy and writing structure maybe it was the idea that didn’t make sense etc. It is about repetition and iteration, that’s what only matters.
From there, that’s where the results come from.
But when you create, just create for yourself and only for yourself.
Maybe that sounds selfish but it isn’t. Of course, you have to cater to your audience and solve a need, but if you solve your own needs through your content, you will paradoxically do that for everyone. And through that, that’s the audience you will be wanting to attract.
The more you help yourself, the more you help others.
So let your creativity, interests, and curiosities create unrestrictedly, boundlessly, and beautifully.
Domain: Philosophy Okay, pause. You fucking read a lot.
I want you to take a break, grab a drink, go for a walk, then come back.
Please, this is for the sake of not frying your brain. Got it? Good.
You back? Welcome back!
A creator without clarity, vision, or values is an aimless, directionless one. Lost.
If you were to compare 2 creators in a 6 month period, one has a vision, the other doesn’t, you obviously know the difference. The difference is staggering.
The person would know what to do and would make tremendous and substantial progress.
Compared to the other individual where he either doesn’t even know what the fuck he is doing or he is swallowing every type of advice he sees and let’s others dictate his decisions, content and brand.
Will he be able to do that for another 6 months without burning out, losing enjoyment, being led the wrong direction? Probably not. Tragic.
That is what happens when you don’t have a philosophy.
And having a philosophy, you can make the personal in the branding truly personal.
Now who doesn’t want to make branding personal?
Who doesn’t want to save 100s of hours?
You already know bruh.
So we will need to create your (at least rough) philosophy by:
getting you to understand your values getting you to create an “identity” through your values getting you to know what you want to do with your brand then With every decision that you make, every word you write, and every single piece of content you create, needs to match with who you are (your philosophy).
That’s why I call this a principle —because the world you are creating depends on it.
And to be a domain creator, it is about being authentic with yourself and what you want out of all of this.
Enough said, let’s make you into a philosopher shall we?
Your Values You can trust your values more than anyone else.
More than any entrepreneurs, creators, or fucking social media.
That’s why I’m not going to only create values for your brand but for yourself and what you do in your day-to-day life—because you are the brand. These values will act as a foundation for what you’ll be doing as a creator and moving forward from here.
So to the point—taking what you are passionate about, what would be a timeless thing you would abide by for years or decades to come?
Write at least 4 values you would abide by, for example:
integrity and respect over everything prioritizing creativity, advancement and enjoyment open-mindedness, curiosity, exploration abiding by your principles and philosophy establishing meaningful friendships understanding, empathy, and compassion pure authenticity and transparency You name it. They can be rough and they don’t always need to be directly correlated with your brand but whatever puts you into place and grounds you.
Let’s use me for example (though don’t let me change your mind), I value:
having time in my day to learn and study other interests and passions being authentic as much as i can prioritizing my interests, passions, and creativity as a form of creating doing anything that can help me create impact, stand out, and be a role-model for others to do the same Again, I can’t stress you enough to know them.
Even further, put them in a place where you can remember, like a notion, a bookmarked area in your journal, or introspect on it everyday.
Your values is what sustains you and keeps you on the desired path you want to embark on. It’s your own path that you are travelling, not some creator’s, entrepreneur’s, or anyone.
It is yours and yours entirely.
Your Identity. I’ve recently came to realize that if you want automatic clarity, confidence, and direct on what to do for the next few months and years, you need to understand who you want to become. An abstract higher self. Then all of that becomes the automatic by-product.
So recalling back to your core passion and use your values, we can help do this.
Now I’m not saying you won’t make any changes (after all, you are your biggest mystery), but having an understand of who you want to become is astronomically and infinitely better than knowing nothing.
So let’s do this, who would you want to become?:
an influential life coach? an author, artist or creative? a graphic designer? a creator/brand consultant or coach? a huge business owner? And I doubt you want to only be one, it can be a massive combination (that’s what makes you more unique). If not, just focus on one thing for now. Just whatever resonates with you the most.
Now you can think of the only way you can become the person is to:
create goals as that person learn and consume as that person do high-roi tasks as that person think like as that person I don’t mean for this to become self improvement-esk but if you are actually serious about wanting to become a person you dream of becoming, that’s the filter or framework you have to follow.
Be your identity if you want to become your identity.
Your Meaning Now we will direct your values and your identity to creating your purpose you want to fulfill or the meaning of why you are a creator.
With your meaning, you can take it to create a message you want to spread to others through your ideas, content, and domain.
When they see you preaching your purpose and your message, that’s how you empower, connect, and unify hearts.
Whatever visions you have, impactful, small, or unknown, it doesn’t matter. Write this down anyways.
Let’s proceed shall we?
1 - aspiration:
Your aspiration your vision, the big thing you want to achieve as a creator. So I’ll be dividing them in the personal (just for you), and the transpersonal (beyond you) so there’s a balance between serving yourself and serving the whole.
For this, it’s easier better to ask yourself a question on “how can I do ‘x’?”
Personal:
how can I achieve financial, time, and creative freedom? how can I living by the life-style, actions, and habits the person you want to become? how can I explore and travel the world? d - how can I give myself time to explore my other interests and passions? And if you are striving for these personal goals, chances are you’ll be indirectly (or directly) helping others do the same too
Transpersonal:
coaching young-men overcome the mental health crisis? spreading a message of living a philosophical life? empowering passions, creativity, and innovation in pursuing entrepreneurship? educating people the importance of health and longevity? You can obviously have a few aspirations for each but see how you can help you create your own message?
And no they don’t have to be massive aspirations but write them down anyways because that will be your underlying purpose as a creator (which will prob change or evolve).
Once you realize your aspirations, let it be the thing that guides you towards your desired place.
2 - opposition
Every great creator has an enemy. An enemy makes them stand on their toes, aware, at edge. It is one of the things that give you a meaning for being a creator and unites other creators with you together.
You are battling against the antithesis of your aspiration, the conventional or popular message you disagree on, or the misconception that you are against. That’s your enemy.
Through it, that’s how you become compelling, assertive, but empowering. Which allows you to spread your ideas, message, and domain further.
And no, you’re not stirring waters for the sake of it, but only because you feel like it’s right and it’s needed.
Now let’s begin, what’s a thing you are against?:
spirituality is “woo-woo” you can’t pursue your curiosities and interests alongside building a business niching down your content is the only way to build an audience and monetize you can’t work for less than 4 hours e - you have to be rich to live a good life They can serve as the pain-points and the misconceptions your audience has, and that’s where you combat them with your content and your offer.
And when you bring your audience under your message, you will cultivate a connected, devoted, and committed audience.
Because who doesn’t like a person challenging the common norm and belief?
That is what makes you different.
End: Philosophy Your philosophies will slowly change and evolve down the line which is okay.
To create your philosophy is still a mystery but when there is change, there is improvement, clarity, and realization—which will make a tremendous and profound impact for the domain you are creating.
No matter what, always follow your philosophy.
Domain: Personality Isn’t it obvious why this is a principle?
Your personality is quite literally everything. It is who you are, your writing voice, your style, and your branding.
This is what your domain will be laced by, it is your you-niqueness
It is how you differentiate yourself, make yourself distinct, and truly connect yourself to other people.
And without a distinct personality? No one is going to establish a deep connection with you.
Even if you have high social-proof, the best offer, or the most unique content—it’s useless.
And it goes beyond just posting simple pictures and “personality” content—it is the way you communicate and present yourself which is more than just your content.
That’s what being different is.
What’s great is that’s already a thing that’s within you.
The word ‘authenticity’ in latin means ‘authentica,’ which means ‘original.’
In essence you are already original and if you are truly authentic within yourself and others, your style, your voice, and your connection with your audience will be the byproduct.
This is why it’s called you-niqueness .
And through uniqueness is association—and if you are associated with your writing or speaking style. Like if I have a certain personality, writing style, and way of communicating myself to others (and I repeat), I’ll be engrained into other people’s heads. Especially with my branding or graphics (which I’ll cover in other letters).
So this is what we’ll be doing in this section, I’ll helping you become you-nique and associated with:
writing in your distinct voice communicating and showing your personality being honest with your audience And in this section, I shall show you how to do this—in a way that’s natural and that resonates with you, to create content with the feeling of pure catharsis, and make you stand out… beautiful.
If you want to do that, read on :)
Discovering your you-niqueness I’ll keep this section concise, through what resonates with you and feels natural, you will be able to uncover your own authentic style and what works for you.
And I know some creators struggle with finding their own writing styles, so I’ll give you some ideas and ways that you can communicate yourself through your content.
Shall we begin?
1 - writing in a distinct voice: **
For your writing and content, would you like to communicate in a way that’s:
practical, pragmatic, and concise? philosophical, deep, and mysterious? comedic, humorous, and witty? creative, visionary, and innovative? calming, caring, compassionate? bold, and ENERGETIC?? etc. It is important because you are evoking a specific energy and feeling within your writing that you are communicating—which is also the people you are attracting to you.
So what kind of voice is your dream audience attracted to at the first place?
And does it feel natural to you? Does it sound like you?
If so, write and create like that.
No one is saying you have to be rigid or pick one, I personally think we all have a few “tones” when we speak but why not play around with them?
Whether you see one that works for you or if one has been working for you, double down on it and experiment with it in your content.
That’s what makes you, you.
2 - letting your personality seep through your writing
I don’t see the point of always following the strict writing rule of being “concise.”
Yea you need to follow that advice to some extent but what ever happened to writing while you think or how you would normally talk (or would want to talk)?
Because that’s what makes you stand out in your writing, rather than always writing in sterile and robotic
I’m talking about those:
swear-words your own fillers or “uhhhh’s” the bro and bruh’s the little quirks, jokes, and 🐱🔪 Even those “I thinks,” or “you shoulds.” Yeah it goes against copywriting principles but however you like speaking in real life (or the tone you like using), fuck it—just write like it.
Whatever they are, feel free to use them in your content, people will relish it :)
That’s what makes you different.
3 - being authentic is just being honest
I’ve talked about being authentic to yourself a lot, which is following your passions and philosophy. But to be authentic to your audience, it’s just pure honesty. Of course, within comfort and boundaries.
But to be honest with what?
Honest with:
what you are doing behind the scenes how you are feeling or been through how you write, speak, and express who you really are and what you do your plans and visions That’s what authenticity is, an unrelenting, tremendous desire to be just transparent and honest.
For the sake of inspiring others, empowering others, and helping others (especially to do the same). That’s the real reason why you do this.
That’s what makes you respected.
End: Personality Of course at first, when you are showing your personality on the internet, it won’t be the best and it might actually feel forced for a bit.
That’s where you have to experiment and play around (like I said) so everything feels seamless and natural.
It took me a while to “nail” this down, especially when I look at my old content i cringe lol— but it all takes time and effort to find what works and what doesn’t work for you.
But that’s what makes it truly fun.
Concluding | Domain: Principles Now it’s time to end this mega-long-ass newsletter.
With you finally establishing your principles, you’ve got a compass, a foundation, and unwavering confidence for you to move forward with your creating endeavors.
And with the brand and world you are building, it will be expanded slowly through the audience you will cultivate while you forge new ideas, content, and projects.
It’s definitely not easy to do this, especially doing this personal branding “thing” is confusing, but that’s okay.
Through experimentation, iteration, and creation is the only way you can make the unknown, known to you. And for that, everything will slowly work for you.
With that, through my experience creating this concept, the biggest thing that I’ve learned is “all great things take time.” Even though it’s hard for me to accept that sometimes, that is just the nature of things.
So for you to create some great, will take time. But for you, the reader, to even have the courage to create something bigger than yourself, is what makes you different.
That’s what makes you, you.
What’s Next? If you want more help, I suggest you buy my—lol I’m kidding. I’m not here to sell you…. yet :)
But this is the plan for the next line up of my newsletters throughout next week and onward: everything I write will be categorize by either “principle, world, or expansion” depending on what I’m writing about.
Even if I’m writing about life or philosophy, I’ll categorize it as principle because that’s what makes your domain after all.
But yeah, I’ll create whatever the fuck I want but that content will be most likely be dedicated towards helping you building your world of unique perspectives, creativity, and building projects. Why? Because I’m passionate and obsessed about it.
So if you’ve read or skimmed up to this point, I admire and thank you for your unrelenting, unfaltering, and undeniable passion :)
