“Your hook is garbage”
“Just show up bro”
“You need discipline”
“Wanna grow? engage more!”
This shit’s been the only thing I’ve been seeing on my timeline.
This advice is not wrong per se, but it’s like everyone is talking about the same thing.
And I cannot lie, this is probably the greatest and easiest time to stand out than ever.
Why Most Creators are Commodities No this isn’t just a “money-twitter” perspective, this is a perspective of social media in general.
You can go on YouTube and you search up the self-improvement niche and you’ll see the same “motivational” or “habits” type videos.
You go on Instagram and most people are creating the same Instagram reels and carousels.
You go back to the Twitter timeline—you see the same personal Twitter-growth advice disguised as personal-branding advice.
You see what I mean?
Most people are creating the same content.
Maybe it has a slightly different thumbnail.
Or maybe there’s a different profile-pic.
But at the core at it, it is the same.
Same content.
Same message.
Same perspectives.
There is nothing actually new.
This is what it means to be a “commoditized” creator: you create the same content that most can easily replicate.
Now I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with basic or generic advice that can help beginners.
But if you are posting the same content as everyone else, how can you ever expect to become someone influential?
How can you truly capture people?
How can you truly captivate people?
Because I can tell you right now:
You are leaving all that potential impact and influence that YOU CAN HAVE to the “bigger” guy.
The guy that has the tenacity to introduce new perspectives and ideas onto the platform that can resonate with the digital collective.
And perhaps, revolutionize it.
It’s that guy where everyone creator follows.
It’s that guy where everyone creator copies.
And it’s funny because it’s just fun and games for this individual.
He’s basically making everyone a joke.
He is being the CREATOR where everyone else is being the FOLLOWER.
Dude, seriously? Is this seriously really what being a creator is?
To be a reskinned version of another creator?
To be a copy-cat of another creator?
Because if you expect to play this “creator game,” let alone wanting to inspire and change others for the best, this isn’t the way.
It was never the way.
Declare To Be Different But great news!
The ever growing sea of copy-cat creators is the best thing that can ever happen to you right now.
Because it will be harder but easier at the same time to be different.
So what is a more better and wonderful time to do that than now?
I can promise you right now:
If you share your own unique perspectives, you will inspire others.
If you spread your own message, you will captivate others.
If you express your passions and curiosities, you will be one-of-a-kind.
That is what it means to be different.
You won’t be just contributing to the creator economy, but you are elevating it.
Perhaps evolving it. Advancing it. Innovating it.
You don’t only care about your brand or audience, but you carry the flame with you towards changing the collective—and collective-thought itself.
You become the new light.
You become someone truly inspiring.
Yeah sure…it will take you a long time to figure out what gets you good results. There will be a lot of people that will disagree with you. But guess what the great reward is?
You will feel in-touch with others. But most importantly, you will feel in-touch with yourself.
For that, please keep chasing what excites and exhilarates you.
Keep diverging from the conventional.
Keep being boldly un-replicable.
Keep being brazenly yourself.
And most importantly….
Keep being different.
Enter - Domain Creation: World-building Perhaps this isn’t the most practical newsletter, or at all to be completely honest. Why? Because this was just an introduction to my newest newsletter series: Domain Creation: world-building.
If you aren’t caught up with what this term means: to be a domain creator means that you aren’t just building a brand, but you are building a world.
A unique and different world of your own. Something that is truly yours.
And this is where I’ll be bringing the world-building into the personal branding.
This is going to be an outline of the world-building series—though I may change the headlines:
Here’s my method towards generating memorable content ideas, seamlessly. Fck the boring ass content. How you can make ideas so good it’s impossible for your audience NOT to be inspired by it (hint; all you need is you) How to create an unforgettable brand-message (p.s. it’s not easy) As I am writing this, I feel like I am high on ecstasy and I don’t know where this is coming from or what’s doing this to me.
But all I know is that I have this obsessesion and invigoration with enabling and empowering people to become thought-leaders.
World-builders.
Domain creators.
And for that, I will do every conceivable thing to do what I want.
I want everyone to become different.
